Common questions
A few things people often ask before booking a visit. If your question isn’t here, please just ring and ask — I am always happy to talk it through.
- How much does it cost?
- There is no call-out charge, and if I cannot help you there is no fee. I will always tell you clearly what the cost will be before I start any work, so there are never any surprises.
- Which areas do you cover?
- I visit homes in Abingdon and the nearby Oxfordshire towns and villages, including Radley, Drayton, Marcham, Shippon, Steventon, Sunningwell, Milton, Clifton Hampden, Sutton Courtenay and Didcot. If you are a little further out, please still ring and ask — I will always tell you honestly if I can come.
- Do I need to bring my computer anywhere?
- No. I come to your home, so nothing needs to be unplugged, carried or posted. Everything is done at your own kitchen table or wherever your equipment lives.
- What sort of problems can you help with?
- Setting up TVs, computers, tablets and printers, email and video calls, installing programs and updates, removing viruses and pop-ups, speeding up slow computers, Wi-Fi problems, organising photographs and files, and general lessons on using your devices safely.
- I am not very confident with technology. Will you explain things clearly?
- Yes. There is no jargon and no rushing. I explain everything in plain English, at your pace, and I am very happy to go over anything more than once or write simple notes for you to keep.
- Is it safe to let you use my computer?
- I will never ask for your banking password, PIN or other financial security details. You are welcome to sit with me the whole time, ask as many questions as you like, and have a family member or friend present if you would prefer.
- How quickly can you come out?
- It depends on how busy the week is, but I usually manage a visit within a few days and often sooner. Ring or text and we will agree a time that suits you.
- How do I book a visit?
- Call or text me on 07808 666619, or fill in the short form on the contact page and I will get back to you.
